-       Congratulations to Hannah Killingsworth, Reid Potthoff and Alonzo Mayo for being selected to be part of the AISA All Star Basketball team and Coach Tom Clements for being chosen to coach.
-       Congratulations to our JV boy’s basketball team for back to back State Championships!  If you are interested in ordering a t-shirt to commemorate this achievement, an order form is attached.
-       The Middle School’s final trip payment is due before March 3rd.
-       On February 21st, Balfour will be here at 9:00am in the library for anyone interested in purchasing a Letterman’s jacket.
-       Any 10th grader interested in Youth Leadership Barbour should go to the main office for an application.  These are due back to the main office by February 28th.
-       In the event your family is taking a trip during the school year, this must be preapproved by the headmaster in order for the absence to be excused.
-       We are looking forward to celebrating Dr. Seuss on Feb. 27-March 3.  Next week an email will be sent with each day’s events.
-       When students are receiving take out lunch it must be brought to the main office.  For safety services, we do not allow curb side service.
-       February 24th author Kay Heath will be at our school reading excerpts from her books.  She will also autograph all books that are purchased.  An order form is attached.
-       Monday, February 20th is a school holiday for President’s Day.
-       We are still collecting Boxtops and ink cartridges in the main office.

-       If your child orders lunch during homeroom and decides not to eat, they are still responsible for purchasing it.  This is in an effort to keep our food cost to a minimum.
-       The Lakeside School’s England Study Abroad Group is selling Valentine Candy grams and the last day to order them is Monday February 13th.  An order form is attached.
-       Any 10th grader interested in Youth Leadership Barbour should go to the main office for an application.  These are due back to the main office by February 28th.
-       In the event your family is taking a trip during the school year, this must be preapproved by the headmaster in order for the absence to be excused.
-       Now that the cold is finally upon us, it is important that you label your child’s jacket with their name so if it is found it can be returned to the rightful owner.
-       When students are receiving take out lunch it must be brought to the main office.  For safety services, we do not allow curb side service.
-       Monday began “Hoops for Heart” in conjunction with the American Heart Association.  Your student will be bringing home a donation packet.  Collection day will be February 17th.  (This replaces “Jump Rope for Heart”)

-       We are continuing to sanitize the school, but you can help us by making sure your child is fever and symptom free for 24 hours.
-       We are still collecting Boxtops and ink cartridges in the main office.

-       Progress reports went home on Thursday and are due back in homeroom on Tuesday, February 7th.
-       Any 10th grader interested in Youth Leadership Barbour should see Ms. Susan for an application.  These are due back to the main office by February 28th.

-       If your child orders lunch during homeroom and decides not to eat, they are still responsible for purchasing it.  This is in an effort to keep our food cost to a minimum.
-       If your student is out due to sickness, vacation, etc. it is critical that they stay on top of their makeup work and tests.  It is the parents/student’s responsibility to stay in communication with the teacher so that all work is completed in a timely manner.
-       In the event your family is taking a trip during the school year, this must be preapproved by the headmaster in order for the absence to be excused.
-       Now that the cold is finally upon us, it is important that you label your child’s jacket with their name so if it is found it can be returned to the rightful owner.

-       The school Science Fair projects and reports are due on January 31st.  This is for grades 6th-9th.  No card tables please.
-       The basketball teams have advanced to the Elite 8.  These games will be played on February 2nd and game times will be determined over the weekend.

New Headmaster

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the hiring of our new headmaster for the upcoming year, Rick Rainer.  Mr. Rainer comes with 38 years of experience in education and has served as superintendent and principal in several districts.  Over the last few years, Mr. Rainer has traveled as a speaker and consultant to schools in the area of crisis management and school safety.  He has coached football, baseball and basketball, has served as a visiting chairman for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and served as a member of the SACS/AdvancED State Council.  He received the “Graduate Student of the Year” from Troy University and was awarded the “Ray of Hope Award” from the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce for service to the City of Enterprise, Alabama.  He and his wife LeRae are looking forward to moving to Eufaula and being a part of our Lakeside family.

Mr. Rainer will be visiting our campus during the months of March, April and May to become familiar with the day to day operations.  This will also give him the opportunity to get to know teachers, students and parents.

We want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!  Thank you so much for your generosity to our teachers and we look forward to a great second semester.

-       The Shoemaker/Bradford Tournament have been consolidated.  The dates are now December 27, 28 and 29 with no games on the 30thThe brackets are attached.
-       If your high school student needs community service hours, they can still work the concession stand at the Shoemaker/Bradford tournament.  The hours available to work are Tuesday, 3pm-7pm, Wednesday, 12pm-7pm and Thursday, 11am-6pm.  They can work as many hours as they need.
-       Baseball tryouts will begin January 5, 6 and 7th.   January 5th and 6th will be after school and 9:30am on the 7th.
-       Practice schedule for the basketball teams has been posted to the website next to the basketball schedule and were sent in an email yesterday.
-       We are still collecting Boxtops and ink cartridges in the main office.

-       Middle School/Upper School exam schedule is on the website under the school news icon.
-       The Shoemaker/Bradford Tournament have been consolidated.  The dates are now December 27, 28 and 29 with no games on the 30th.
-       Big/Little Chief gift is due at school on December 9th.  Please have the gift wrapped/bag and left with their homeroom teacher.  Please do not spend over $15.00.
-       If your high school student needs community service hours, there is a sign up sheet in the office to work the concession stand at home basketball games and during the Shoemaker/Bradford tournament.  They will need to see Mrs. Sherri to sign up.
-       If you need gift cards for Christmas, please order them from us using “Cards for a Cause”.  The school receives part of the proceeds and an order form is attached.  We will only be placing orders on December 6th and December 12th.
-       Science Fair paragraph with topic and description is due Monday, December 5th for 6th-9th grade students.
-       The uniform store is now open for business!  It is open on Monday’s from 8:00am-8:30am and Thursday’s from 3:00pm-3:30pm.  Skullys are still available for Christmas presents and they are only $15.00.
-       Our Christmas Choral program is December 8th at Southpoint Church at 6:00pm.
-       Polar Express is December 12th for Preschool – 4th grade. If you are interested in helping, please contact Jenny Gillis at jenny_gillis@bellsouth.net.
-       Save the date – December 13th Dessert Theatre at 7:00pm starring our 8th grade!  Reservations can be made with Jane Johnson.
