Lakeside News
We want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!  Thank you so much for your generosity to our teachers and we look forward to a great second semester.

Check our website for athletic events and times.

-       The Shoemaker/Bradford Tournament have been consolidated.  The dates are now December 27, 28 and 29 with no games on the 30thThe brackets are attached.
-       If your high school student needs community service hours, they can still work the concession stand at the Shoemaker/Bradford tournament.  The hours available to work are Tuesday, 3pm-7pm, Wednesday, 12pm-7pm and Thursday, 11am-6pm.  They can work as many hours as they need.
-       Baseball tryouts will begin January 5, 6 and 7th.   January 5th and 6th will be after school and 9:30am on the 7th.
-       Practice schedule for the basketball teams has been posted to the website next to the basketball schedule and were sent in an email yesterday.
-       We are still collecting Boxtops and ink cartridges in the main office.

-       Middle School/Upper School exam schedule is on the website under the school news icon.
-       The Shoemaker/Bradford Tournament have been consolidated.  The dates are now December 27, 28 and 29 with no games on the 30th.
-       Big/Little Chief gift is due at school on December 9th.  Please have the gift wrapped/bag and left with their homeroom teacher.  Please do not spend over $15.00.
-       If your high school student needs community service hours, there is a sign up sheet in the office to work the concession stand at home basketball games and during the Shoemaker/Bradford tournament.  They will need to see Mrs. Sherri to sign up.
-       If you need gift cards for Christmas, please order them from us using “Cards for a Cause”.  The school receives part of the proceeds and an order form is attached.  We will only be placing orders on December 6th and December 12th.
-       Science Fair paragraph with topic and description is due Monday, December 5th for 6th-9th grade students.
-       The uniform store is now open for business!  It is open on Monday’s from 8:00am-8:30am and Thursday’s from 3:00pm-3:30pm.  Skullys are still available for Christmas presents and they are only $15.00.
-       Our Christmas Choral program is December 8th at Southpoint Church at 6:00pm.
-       Polar Express is December 12th for Preschool – 4th grade. If you are interested in helping, please contact Jenny Gillis at jenny_gillis@bellsouth.net.
-       Save the date – December 13th Dessert Theatre at 7:00pm starring our 8th grade!  Reservations can be made with Jane Johnson.
-       Practice schedule for the basketball teams has been posted to the website next to the basketball schedule.
-       We are still collecting Boxtops and ink cartridges in the main office.

We would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!  We know you will enjoy your time with your family.

-       Middle School/Upper School exam schedule is on the school news site and the new online test calendars.
-       Come and support the Chiefs on November 28th for their first home game in the newly renovated gym. There will be our gym dedication with Stacy Brown and The Whitehead Family between the Varsity Girls’ and Varsity Boys’ game (approximately 6:30pm).

It is time to collect canned goods for our Thanksgiving baskets for the needy.  There is a list of what each grade needs to bring posted on the “School News” of our website.

We have entered the sinus/strep season.  Please be reminded that your child must be fever free for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

7th Grade                               1 can of cranberry sauce and 1 can sweet potatoes or yams

9th Grade                               1 can of green beans and 1 can of corn
10th Grade                             3 cans of mixed fruit
11th Grade                             1 box of Macaroni and Cheese and 1 can cream of mushroom soup
12th Grade                             1 can of English peas and 1 can of Black Eyed Peas

Please bring your items by November 22 to your child's homeroom teacher.

-       Charleston Wrap was sent home today!
-       Tonight is Senior Recognition at 6:30pm and Cash giveaway drawing during halftime.
-       Next Friday we will host Jackson Academy at 7:00pm in the first round of football playoffs.  Come out and cheer on our boys to the next round of playoffs!
-       Picture retakes and club pictures will be November 1st. This includes SGA, Beta Club, Yearbook, Smoke Signals, Mu Alpha Theta, FCA officers, Spanish Club, Class officers, Beau and Beauty and Class Favorites.
-       Although Monday is Halloween, there will be no dressing up at school.
-       The Preschool Poinsettia sale starts November 1st.
-       If there is a change in who is picking up your child or your plans change, please send a note to your student’s homeroom teacher.
-       JV and Varsity girl’s basketball teams will start practicing on Monday, October 31st from 3:00pm-5:00pm in the gym.

-       Cash giveaway tickets are in the main office.  Please see Rebecca Folmar to get your tickets.

-       Fall Festival is October 18th from 5:00pm-8:00pm.  Your room mom will be contacting you with either times to work or items to bring.

-       We need baked goods for the cakewalk at the Fall Festival.  Please contact Ashley Wentworth at evansab@auburn.edu letting her know what you can bring.

-       Please check the website for all homecoming activities.

-       Skit night for homecoming activities has been changed from Thursday, Oct. 13th to Wednesday, Oct. 12th at 6:00pm due to 2nd round of volleyball playoffs.

-       Homecoming is October 14th.  We will have noon dismissal.

-       Grandparent’s day is October 27th at 1:30pm.

-       On October 27th we will have a chili supper and glow in the dark pep rally.  More details will be attached to the report card.

-       Report cards will go home on Tuesday, October 18th and will need to be signed and returned by Tuesday, October 25th.

-       With the close of the 1st nine weeks, please make sure all tuition payments and lunchroom charges are current.

-       Last day to take an AR test is Wednesday, October 12th.

-       The towel rally has begun!  Please send any beach towels or bath sheets that you no longer use to Coach Clements to polish the gym floor.

Don’t forget to continue to sell the Charleston Wrap products.  We are asking that each child sell 10 items.  The deadline is September 19th even though the included letter has the incorrect date.  Additional order forms are available in the main office.

Lakeside News

What an exciting time to be a Chief!  Enrollment is now at 336 and our new classrooms are almost finished.  Athletics is in full swing so check the website for upcoming games.  Here are a few reminders for next week:

-       Cash giveaway tickets are in the main office.  Please see Rebecca Folmar to get your tickets.

-       Physical forms for all athletes should have already been turned in.  If your child has not turned theirs in, you can find them our website.  All forms must be turned in before student athletes can participate in a game.

-       The towel rally has begun!  Please send any beach towels or bath sheets that you no longer use to Coach Clements to polish the gym floor.

-       Today your child received their STI information and AR login.  If you have any problems logging in to either, please contact Sherri in the main office.

-       Handbook forms were due today.  In the event, they did not get turned in please turn them in on Monday.  Extra forms can be found on our website.

-       Upper school students who completed community service hours over the summer should have those turned in to the office no later than next Friday, August 26th.

-       If you have not signed up to receive text messages from our school using Remind, attached are instructions on how to do this.

-       If you are interested in purchasing reserve seats for our home Varsity football games, please contact Gail Cobb at (334)750-5607.  Seats are $50.00 each.
