Pre-arranged absences for family trips will not be considered for nine weeks tests and semester exams except for extreme circumstances (refer to Absentee Policy). A student who misses a nine weeks test or semester exam for an acceptable reason such as personal illness, death in the family, or an emergency, must complete a make-up test in accordance with the school’s attendance policy. Students who are late for a nine weeks test or semester exam have only the remaining time to complete the exam unless there are extenuating circumstances. For study purposes and to help prepare students for nine weeks tests and semester exams, the teacher will provide a “study guide”.

Students who maintain an “A” in a year-long class are eligible to exempt the semester exam for second semester. This is determined by a student having an “A” average (89.5 or higher) for the first semester and an “A” average (89.5 or higher) going into the exam for the second semester. Semester classes are not included in the exemption policy. Averages of 89.5 or higher will be rounded up in order for the student to be exempted. The student must have an “A” average both semesters to be exempted.  Students always have the option of taking the final exam.

**Exempted students will be expected to participate in any classroom discussion and reviews in preparation for the semester exam.

-Attached is the PTO volunteer opportunities form for next school year. Serving as a PTO volunteer is a great way to fulfill the required parent volunteer hours. If you are interested in any of these positions, please print it and return it to the main office.

-If you still need parent volunteer hours, we are having 2 campus cleanup days.  They are on Saturday, May 5^th from 7am-11am and Sunday, May 6^th from 2pm-4pm.

-May 1^st is the presentation of honor graduates and cap and gown pictures for the senior class.

-Senior parents – all tuition, fees and dues must be paid by May 10^th to the business office.  All parent volunteer hours must be completed by May 7^th.

-Monday, April 30^th is the last day your child can charge in the lunchroom.

-It is time to reserve your spot at our Spring Sports banquet for JV and Varsity basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, fishing and golf.  The banquet will be on May 15th at 6:00pm at Lakepoint.  Tickets are $14.00 a person and players and coaches are free.  Attached is a reservation form for you to fill out and turn in with your money to the main office.  The deadline to turn in your reservation is Tuesday, May 8th.

Please check our website for all our athletic events.  We have posted baseball, softball, golf and tennis schedules on the school website.

-The Book Fair will be March 15^th-21^st in the library.  The book fair will be open from 7:45am-4:00pm.

-Encore has been so gracious to do physicals for us this year.  Forms will be given to your student on Monday, March 19^th and all paperwork must be filled out completely and turned in to either Coach Tom or Mrs. Sherri in the office by Thursday, March 22^nd with a $15.00 check made payable to Encore. The physicals will be on Wednesday, April 4^th starting at 5:00pm. (There will be no pre-physicals this year) Please keep in mind, if your child is playing football, cheerleading, basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, golf, volleyball, etc. (this includes PeeWee, JV and Varsity) they are required to have their physical completed on April 4^th.  No one can participate in school sports without a current physical on file with the school.

-Bunny Grams will be on sale next week, and they are $2 each. Forms were given to your students today. We are also attaching a form for your convenience. This is a perfect gift for Big Chief and/or Little Chiefs. The deadline to purchase is Wednesday afternoon. The Bunny Grams will be delivered the Friday before Spring Break. Thanks for supporting the Junior class! Please contact Mrs. Callie Strickland if you have any questions.

-April 6^th we will dismiss at noon because of the Pilgrimage.

-On April 3^rd, all Juniors and a few seniors and sophomores’ will be taking the ACT at the Senior center.  This test will be administered by the school and your student needs to be there by 7:45am.

-PTO meeting for our spring fundraiser will be March 7 at 5:00pm in the library.  If you would like to help with the fundraiser to earn parent volunteer hours, please contact Heather Newton or Jessica King.

-The Eufaula Art Scene has tickets for sale for their annual wine & cheese art auction. The auction will be on March 6^th at 6:00pm at the historic Shorter Mansion.  The proceeds go to our area school art programs.

-9 weeks tests will be next week for upper and middle school students.  A schedule was emailed to everyone and is on our website under “School News”.
